What is the real meaning of Shivling? What is the secret of Shivling?
Shiva is always seated in a state of meditation. The pure soul contented in a body with a happy mind. Lord Shiva always wish to remain in the state of deep meditation. Mata Parvati works to keep him awake as the entire world is not going to survive with out the attention of Lord Shiva. and to make Shiva awake and happy, Maa Gauri always try to do worship on ShivLinga. Shivalinga is the symbol of Shiva which is infinite with no end or beginning. If you visit any Shiva temple, you will see there is a pitcher on the top of the Shivling, there is a hole under the pitcher and the drops of water keep on dripping on the Shivling. What do you think the reason for this? Goddess Parvati knows that Shiva is enjoying meditation but she want him to be present for the world so that the Shristi keep on running and everyone in this world will not get deprived of their blessings.
There are two elements in the universe, energy is power and matter. Our soul is full of energy and body is made of matter. Shivling is also made of matter and symbolize Lord Shiva’s energy. This is the secret of Shivling, all the matter present in the universe engulfs Shivling. Shivling is the symbol of the universe and the universe is the symbol of Shivling.
Lord Shiva is called Mahadev
Mahadev means that the supreme deity, there is no one greater than Shiva. Shivji is also the form of Ardhanarishvara which means half of the body is man and other half is of woman. In the same way Shivalinga also attains the powers of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati.
